Waive rent for Hart Foodbank, so money can be spent on the needy

We the undersigned petition the council to Waive permanently the rent of £450 per month which Hart District Council is charging the Hart Foodbank charity for storage space in the old public toilets in Victoria Road, Fleet

The Hart Foodbank charity (hart.foodbank.org.uk) provides vital support for the neediest people in Hart, those in crisis. This is a task which arguably should be done by local government. Local churches are providing distribution space but the Foodbank also needs storage space. By operating in Hart, the Foodbank is saving money for Hart District Council (and its council tax payers), and saving it the embarrassment, in this area of relative wealth, of having its residents go short of the basic and urgent need for food. It is appalling that Hart is taking resources from this charity, especially taking into account the basic nature and limited uses of these old public toilets. We the signatories urge Hart District Council to waive the £450 per month rent so that more resources can be used for those in need.
